Incident at Refinery

On March 27, 2011, at about 11 a.m., a flash fire occurred at the Oligomerization Unit of the Mažeikiai Refinery Complex LK-1 during the preparation of the heat exchanger for maintenance.

Three contractor workers, who worked at the heat exchanger, suffered from burns. These people were immediately taken to hospital. The fire and rescue service team promptly extinguished the fire. The causes of the incident are being investigated.
 
From March 26, 2011, the Refinery is shut down for scheduled maintenance of installations. The maintenance is anticipated to take two weeks. Approximately two thousand persons, including the Refinery staff and employees of 41 Lithuanian and Polish contractors, are involved in the scheduled maintenance activities.
